Zaproszony do projektu "My", łódzki artysta Wiktor Polak postanowił wybrać się na wycieczkę do Wiednia. Chce pojechać tam jako zwykły turysta, a zarazem samozwańczy reprezentant Polaków. Spędzając w Wiedniu trzy dni, od 18 do 21 maja 2009 roku,
będzie rejestrował cały swój pobyt kamerą wideo.
Narzuca się tu mnóstwo pytań. Gdzie się uda Polak, będąc już w samym Wiedniu?
Co będzie tam robił? Co lub kto przyciągnie jego uwagę? Jak się zachowa? Czy będzie
"nas" godnie reprezentował? Rodzą się też pytania innego rodzaju. Czy ten swoisty
wideoperformance Polaka pokaże, jak silne i liczne jest wspólnotowe,
narodowo-społeczno-kulturowe "my", które zamieszkuje jednostkę? I z drugiej niejako strony: jak mocno idiosynkratyczna i ekscentryczna jest jednostka, która ma reprezentować takowe "my"?
O wszystkim tym można się było przekonać się w trakcie projekcji filmu, będącego dokumentacją akcji artysty. Projekcja odbyła się 9 czerwca 2009 roku w Łodzi,
w Foto Cafe 102 (Piotrkowska 102), o godzinie 20.00.
Part 4. POLAK'S [A POLE'S] TRIP TO VIENNA.
Invited to participate in the project "We", Wiktor Polak (whose surname, 'Polak', reads and means in Polish the same as 'a Pole'), an artist from Łódź, decided to go for a trip to Vienna. He wants to go there as an average tourist and as a self-appointed representative of Poles. While staying in Vienna for three days
from 18 to 22 of May 2009, he will record all his stay with a video camera.
Many questions arise here. Where will this Pole/Polak go while staying in Vienna? What will he do there? What or who will draw his attention? How will he react? Will he represent "us" with dignity? Also other questions arise. Will this peculiar video-performance of a Pole/Polak show how strong and numerous is community-based national-social-cultural "we" which dwells in an individual? And from another point of view: how much idiosyncratic and eccentric is an individual who is supposed
to represent "us"?
All the issues could be checked during screening of the film which documented the artist's undertaking. The film screening took place on the 9th of June, 2009
in Łódź, at Foto Café 102 (102 Piotrkowska St.) at 8 p.m.

W roku 2004 ukończył studia na Wydziale Malarstwa i Grafiki Akademii Sztuki Pięknych im. W. Strzemińskiego w Łodzi. Od 2003 roku jego pasją jest tworzenie filmów wideo. Odniósł pewne sukcesy w tej dziedzinie. Woli informować o sobie jedynie poprzez swoje utwory.

In 2004 he graduated from the Department of Painting and Graphic Arts of W. Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź. Since 2003 he has revealed a passion for making video films. He has been successful in this field to some extent. He prefers to present himself through his works.
